« Lost in the Funhouse »: Horde abducts the X-Men and their guests Captain Britain and Meggan, ordering them to steal the Crystal of Ultimate Vision or see their world destroyed. The Citadel of Light and Shadow traps them in illusions: Rogue becomes a Southern belle, Havok a star, Dazzler a hobo, Psylocke a metal warrior, while Storm is tempted by a life with Yukio and Wolverine denies a fantasy with Mariko. Horde kills Wolverine, but a drop of his blood on the crystal regenerates him with godlike powers. Wolverine removes Horde’s shard, reducing him to dust, then destroys the crystal, unknowingly passing the ultimate test that kept mankind’s evolution from being frozen forever. Key issue: First appearance of Horde (dies).
