« The Rise and Fall of the Shi’ar Empire, Chapter Ten: In Exile »: Learning that Professor X and Darwin have been captured, Vulcan schemes with D’ken as Warpath and Korvus, despite their mutual dislike, disable a Shi’ar signal tower together. The X-Men and Starjammers battle guards protecting the exiled rebel Ka’ardum, and a furious Marvel Girl, invoking her murdered family, kills several soldiers over Nightcrawler’s objections. Lilandra convinces the reluctant Ka’ardum, whom she once exiled, to rejoin her cause against D’ken, hoping his name will sway defectors. As Polaris and Havok rekindle their romance, Vulcan asks Darwin to be his best man at a wedding to Deathbird that he reveals will end with Professor X’s execution.
