Uncanny X-Men #406

« Staring Contests Are For Suckers »: Left bleeding after Mystique frees Mastermind, Banshee’s team and the X-Men battle Multiple Man’s rogue duplicates and destroy the hijacked gunships in Paris, though they’re too late to stop Avalanche from toppling the Eiffel Tower. Back at base, the Angels and Stacy X defeat the Blob while a dying Banshee frees Abyss, who in his grief over Sunpyre sucks Mystique into his dimensional portal, nearly taking Banshee too before the Angels pull him free. With Avalanche and Mastermind escaped, the team realizes Mystique’s scheme worked regardless — Paris’s near-destruction will poison human-mutant relations — leaving a critically wounded Banshee to live with the consequences of his choices.
