« Up from the Depths »: After a memorial service for Jocasta, recently destroyed battling Ultron, the Avengers are stunned when Iron Man telephones and formally quits the group, unaware that the caller is Tony Stark’s replacement, Jim Rhodes. At a S.H.I.E.L.D. base on Chespeake Bay, Nick Fury and the President are taken prisoner by doubles of the agents, revealed as wooden facsimiles created by the Plantman. The Avengers rescue the prisoners, then battle a towering plant-humanoid that emerges from the bay. Thor, the She-Hulk, and Captain Marvel wear it down until Eros of Titan arrives to deliver the final blow, then declares that he has come to Earth to join the Avengers.
