The boy secretly brings food, first aid supplies and a kerosene heater, and Logan tells him about the X-Men and the prejudice against mutants. Logan remembers that two fingers were missing from the Wendigo’s left hand, while the creature, recalling a past life as a Wisconsin school headmaster, follows his trail. Logan ends up having to save his young friend from the Wendigo.
