“THE GIFT OF DOOM!” Roger Steele is given a diamond by an unnamed man and told it has a curse that may doom him. He is unable to throw it away without it returning, but it is finally stolen, and the thief is killed by it. As the Comics Code Authority’s strict upkeep began coming into question in the late 1960’s, editor Joe Orlando decided that the « House of Mystery » was in need of renovation. So, he pulled up the floorboards that had been worn out by super hero adventures over the past several years and refurbished the series to its horror anthology roots.
