Hal Jordan is back on earth after his year exile in space, and his first stop is his love Carol Ferris’s house. She greets him with a hug and takes him over to the new LA branch of Ferris Airlines . While there Carol introduces Hal to Bruce Gordon , who is working on a new type of engine. The engine uses willpower to fly a plane. Ferris air also employs Tom Kalmaku , who is also working on the will power plane, but he need one critical part. Meanwhile else where the Javelin has stolen that part and is making a get away when Hal is alerted to the thief. He chases down the Javelin but the villain uses a yellow ink javelin and Hal is left falling to his death.
