With Gargoyle under the control of a powerful mage, the Defenders are hesitant to fight their friend! The Defenders confront the sorcerer who is controlling Gargoyle. They try to speak with him, to no avail. Suddenly the sorcerer demands that his slave defeat « the demons, » and Gargoyle can do nothing but attack his old friends. Gargoyle almost kills Cloud, but Angel saves her. Valkyrie flies with Aragorn towards Gargoyle and uses her mystical sword to wound him, but when she is about to kill him, she can’t do it, and Gargoyle punches her away.…
