« To the Death »: The Avengers and the Defenders join forces in Los Angeles to halt Thor’s battle with the Hulk, but lose the assembled Evil Eye to Dormammu, whose dimension begins to subsume Earth and turn humans into monsters. While S.H.I.E.L.D. holds the line, the heroes invade Dormammu’s realm. He imprisons the treacherous Loki, dispatches the Defenders with a single spell, traps others in quicksand and reduces Thor and Iron Man to Don Blake and Tony Stark. When Loki escapes and attacks, the Scarlet Witch’s hex triggers the Evil Eye, which absorbs Dormammu’s essence and blasts it into Loki’s face, restoring his sight and driving him insane. Earth is saved.
