« Lo, the Lethal Legion »: The Grim Reaper lets the Black Panther escape and contact the Avengers as part of a scheme to divide and conquer them. Goliath and the Scarlet Witch fall to Power Man and the Swordsman, while Captain America and Quicksilver fall to the Man-Ape and the Living Laser. The Reaper imprisons the Avengers in a giant hourglass of deadly gas, then learns from their files that the Vision’s mind was formed from the brain patterns of his late brother, Wonder Man. The Vision, already free after changing places with Power Man, rallies the team and the Lethal Legion is defeated, after which he abruptly announces he is leaving the Avengers.
