« The Rise and Fall of the Shi’ar Empire, Chapter Four: Castaways »: Low on fuel, the X-Men board a Shi’ar space station, with Marvel Girl manipulating the crew’s minds to cover for the wanted Professor X. Havok and Polaris question the ethics of this deception just as they discover a massacre of Shi’ar crew and Darwin is ejected into space during an ambush by shapeshifting Warskrulls. The team defeats the imposters, and Darwin survives the vacuum thanks to his evolving powers. Two genuine Shi’ar survivors are rescued and brought aboard, secretly planning to betray Professor X to the authorities, while elsewhere, a warlord frees the prisoner Korvus to wield the mystical, Phoenix-powered Blade of the Phoenix.
