Uncanny X-Men #382

« Lost Souls »: Warned that stories of the Shockwave Riders reach even into his own future timeline, Cable telepathically sends the team into the dying Rider’s mind to rescue Phoenix, who has been exploring his memories of the Neo’s destruction. After she defeats him, the reunited X-Men are ambushed by the Lost Souls, who transform them into nightmare avatars of themselves — until Cable’s focused psychic charge to their real bodies gives them the strength to break free. Phoenix saves the dying Rider and insists the X-Men weren’t responsible for his city’s destruction, though the unconvinced Riders depart anyway; Gambit reveals he summoned the team to repay an old debt with a rescue mission.
