Uncanny X-Men #263

« The Lower Depths »: Forge tracks Masque’s deformed Morlocks, holding Peter and the woman — revealed as Callisto — captive. Masque, realizing Callisto is drawn to Peter’s resemblance to Colossus, transforms him to look like the X-Man without his powers, then gives Callisto an hour’s head start before the Morlocks hunt them. Meanwhile Colonel Vazhin warns Valerie Cooper of coming superhuman war. Masque’s Morlocks catch up in the tunnels, but Forge, Banshee and Jean intervene; Colossus instinctively armors up for real during the fight, and once the Morlocks are subdued, the team forces Masque to release them. Forge builds a device restoring their appearances, then honors his fallen Vietnam unit, his promise finally fulfilled. Key issue: First appearance of Bliss and Bouncer.
