Uncanny X-Men #199

« The Spiral Path »: Moira tells Cyclops that Professor X is dying from his earlier beating. Mystique offers the Brotherhood’s services to Val Cooper as government agents, on the condition they prove themselves by capturing Magneto. Meanwhile, Rachel visits the Grey household, overwhelmed by memories of Phoenix’s final days, and claims the power of the Phoenix Force for herself in a bid to restore her mother’s legacy. At a Holocaust memorial ceremony, Magneto, Kitty and Lee Forrester learn painful family history, only for « Lee » to reveal herself as Mystique, backed by the newly-renamed Freedom Force. The X-Men intervene and overpower them, but Magneto ultimately surrenders, choosing to finally face his accusers. Key issue: Cyclops rejoins the team; first appearance of alternate-timeline Scott and Jean Summers (flashback).
