« What Peace There May Be in Silence »: Swamp Thing, the former Alec Holland transformed by his own bio-restorative formula after the lab explosion that killed his wife Linda, arrives in Limbo, North Carolina. He drives off a bear and disarms three startled hunters, then befriends a young girl named Casey Clancy, whose father believes she is a witch. Locals grow agitated at the sight of him, while Harry Kay, a stranger renting a motel room, reports to Mister Grasp of the Sunderland Corporation that Alec Holland has been sighted. Also: « …In Shadowed Depths », the Phantom Stranger confronts a preacher who uses his church as a front for a heroin ring. Key issue: First issue of the series; new origin of Swamp Thing.
