Uncanny X-Men #443

« Of Darkest Nights, 2 of 2 »: Uncomfortable being worshipped as the Genoshans’ queen, Polaris debates Stockholm syndrome with Professor X and defends Magneto’s violent methods as understandable given decades of human attacks on mutants. Professor X insists such actions can never be excused, only to be confronted with his own hypocrisy in trying to honor Magneto’s memory. Polaris encases him in his wheelchair’s metal and dares him to kill her to stop her, but when he chooses to accept death instead, she relents, magnetically rebuilding the shattered monument with his face beside Magneto’s. Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Polaris and Wolverine depart, leaving Professor X alone with the body and his thoughts.
