At the United Nations headquarters, Captain America speaks to the few remaining delegates and assures them that the Avengers will lead the world through this new crisis. Likewise in Europe, Iron Man addresses representatives of the European Union and implores them to stick together during this unprecedented calamity. Hours later while responding to a spatial vortex in the Atlantic Ocean, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes rendezvous with a former avenger: the Sub-Mariner! Namor reports that not only are capital cities disappearing, but also large sections of the world’s oceans. In the meantime at Avengers Mansion, the Scarlet Witch has taken seriously ill — almost as if she is caught between life and death!
