« Sacrifice Play! »: Spider-Man asks District Attorney Tower for help tracking the Hobgoblin. In the Hobgoblin’s hideout, a man mixing strength-enhancing Goblin formula is burned when it blows up in his face and is taken away by a rescue crew. Betty Leeds takes Peter to lunch, where she and Ned play matchmaker with Mary Jane. Weeks later, the burned man escapes the hospital and dons the goblin suit. Learning from Detective Lou Snider that a super-strong Hobgoblin is tearing up Times Square, Spidey fights him and unmasks Lefty Donovan. As Donovan mentions a boss, the glider’s remote guidance flies him into a building, killing him. The real Hobgoblin had hypnotized Donovan to test the risky formula. Key issue: Death of Lefty Donovan as the Hobgoblin.
