« Countdown to Chaos! »: Spider-Man stops the Smasher from kidnapping Robbie and plants a spider-tracer on him. The giant later destroys a Raleigh campaign van driven by Peter, Harry, Gwen and Mary Jane. Spidey follows him back to the Disruptor and Thaxton, where the panicking Disruptor overuses his control device and the Smasher destroys the lab, killing both men. Spidey destroys the Smasher by striking his control implant and unmasks the Disruptor, discovering he was Raleigh. He burns the costume to protect Raleigh’s secret, while Jameson vows to write an editorial eulogizing Raleigh’s accomplishments. Note: includes reprinted pages from Spectacular Spider-Man #1 (final installment of « Lo, This Monster »).
